The majority of America is overweight, including one of the richest women in the world Oprah, last name need not to be mentioned because she’s that famous. If one of the wealthiest women in the world can’t take a magic pill or buy a machine to make her thin, then you can’t either!

There is no supplement that will make you skinny. The supplement industry is a multi-million/billion dollar industry that has a very low success rate. In fact the supplements aren’t even approved by the FDA. Fat burners, muscle enhancement, cholesterol lowering, energy and performance enhancement, and the list goes on. The point is, there is no one supplement that can make you skinny or buff.

Along with pills, there are exercise shortcuts. 20 minute abs have been reduced to 10, 8, now 5 minutes, pretty soon there will be 30 second abs for to get the ultimate 6-pack. There are shakers, the bow-flex, the biggest loser, dvds, computer programs, video games, etc. Everyone is looking for the machine to do it all for them, but they won’t find one because there isn’t one. It is another multi-billion dollar industry which results in machines collecting dust in the basement or garage and gadgets being sold at rummage sales while the inventors walk away with pockets full of money and fat.

Weight loss isn’t an easy task. It takes a long time to make small changes to reach your goal weight, but small sustainable changes can go a long way particularly in your nutrition. Do you know what you are eating? Learn how to read labels and avoid processed foods and artificial sugars – you’ll not only lose weight you will decrease your risk of cancer. Do you drink milk or sugary soda drinks? Stop drinking them and do everything else the same, and you may see 1 pound per week start to shed for up to 10 weeks. Most importantly, EAT REGULARLY. The human body is designed to eat at least five meals per day with approximately the same calories in each meal. The sooner you start eating in the morning, the sooner you turn on your metabolism and start burning calories. That means if you eat breakfast at 7:30 am instead of waiting until 10:30 for your first bite, you will actually have burnt more calories that day by eating more and earlier!

At the GH School for Healthy Living we help educate you on what you are eating, so that you can make small but decisive steps to gradually improve your diet and nutrition. We don’t believe in overnight fixes, or Oprah would have found them…but we do believe that sustainable changes come from educating yourself and then owning your own food choices. Do you know what you are eating? What can you change today to help you live a few more tomorrows?
